The Bengals had hoped that Andre Caldwell could have been ready in time for a possible playoff game, but his condition has not improved. On Tuesday, they played the fourth-year receiver on injured reserve due to a sports hernia. Caldwell saw action in 13 games this season with 37 receptions for 317 yards and three touchdowns. Taking Caldwell’s spot on the roster is former UC standout Armon Binns, who was signed to the practice squad on Sept. 20 when Andrew Hawkins was moved up. Binns was with the Jaguars during the preseason and had three receptions for 20 yards and a touchdown before being waived in the final round of cuts. Binns’ Bengals claim to fame is that he wears No. 85. To fill Binns’ spot on the practice squad, the Bengals signed another former UC player — Vidal Hazelton, who was with the Chargers for two preseason games.
