The Detroit Lions have ensured their super-star Wide Receiver, Calvin Johnson, will stay with the franchise through 2019, by signing the 26-year old player to a 7-year, $132 million contract. The extension includes $60 million in guarantees and will pay Johnson an average annual salary of $18.86 million, making Johnson the highest paid player in NFL history. NFL talent evaluators and fans already considered Johnson one of the league's best receivers and that was before his phenomenal 2011 season. The 5th year WR played in all 16 games last season for the 1st time since 2008, and set new career highs in catches (96), receiving yards (1,681) and touchdowns (16) in 2011. Since joining the league in 2007, Johnson has 366 receptions, 5,872 yards and 49 Touchdowns.
