LSU has announced Cam Cameron's three-year contract. Still subject to board approval, but the first year sees him paid $600,000, jumping to $1.3 million in year two and finally $1.5 million in year three. That final number would make him the highest paid OC in college football next year, but by 2015 it probably won't be. That will still most likely keep LSU as one of the top three highest paid staffs in all of college football. This contract was well laid out to ensure that Cameron won't use the position as a stepping stone back into the NFL in one year, while also saving LSU money in case he doesn't pan out back in the college ranks.   It's been years since Cameron last coached in college football, so there is still some doubt as to whether he can tailor his coaching back to the college style after so many years in the NFL. That's why $600,000 a year is a bargain for a coordinator with so much experience. If he's as good as he was in the NFL, LSU will have found an excellent offensive coordinator to go forward with and he's already set to get paid like one after the first year. If that's not the case, LSU is only out $600k mitigating some of the loss. Let's hope it doesn't come to that, though.
