PFt is reporting that Cam Cameron will be named the Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator. This is good for him and the Ravens.

  • Not a bad hire, but he needs a QB. Also hear Rex Ryan might be leaving and going to D.C.
  • It'll be interesting to see if Cam like Boller or Troy Smith. He may try to convince his new bosses they should grab a QB in the first round. I'm sure Dewey would love that.
  • Granted, I did forget about Troy Smith. Will be interesting to see how he pans out this next season.
  • I thought Troy showed some good signs this past year. I was expecting him to be another charlie ward type, minus the New York Knicks
  • Troy needs some work, but I think there is a lot of potential there. Not sure what kind of offensive line help he gets this year. Isn't their offensive liine aging? I know Ogden is retiring.
  • Ogden gone, but they started there upgrade last year, cant remember who though
  • The upgrade on the line last year included tackle Jared Gaither (5th round supplemental draft pick who may have been a first-rounder this year had he been eligible academically to stay one more year at Maryland) and they also picked up Marshall Yanda (G/T) out of Iowa in the third round (maybe the second; honestly I can't remember right now).
  • No way! I'm a Troy Smith guy.
  • I'll trust you, Ted, since I know how big of a 'Phins fan you are. I was kinda hoping for the QB coach from Philly. The guy has worked wonders with D-Mac and his backups, all of whom have played well over the years.
  • Yeah, there are other great candidates, some of which may be better than Cam but overall I think it's a good move. It will be better than Brian Billick calling the plays.
  • What's going on with Bilick anyway. Haven't heard any news on him since the big firing.
  • probably going to take a year off
  • Ahhhhhh.......the old year off and sit in the broadcast booth bit. Got ya.
  • The AFC north will rule the CBS booth
  • Hahaha.......got that right. Surprised Cowher won't come back out and coach. Guess he likes that TV gig. Who wouldn't?
  • I like hiring Cam, especially since it gives us some head coaching experience (college with Indiana as well as his stint in Miami) in the top three slots. If Rex departs, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ray Rhodes resurface as DC.

As for the QB situation, there are a couple of guys we could sign (Shaun Hill, Derek Anderson) or we could take a QB in the second round with the 8th pick, perhaps Colt Brennan, and just see what we have next year between Troy Smith and the rookie with Boller serving as capable backup.
  • Ray had a stroke in Seattle...literally had a stroke. He's in retirement mode for good. I heard some other big name that fell into the 3-4 camp and I can't think of it aaahhh!! Campo that's it. Harbaugh is surrounding himself with big talent at the coaching positions. Good for him.
  • That's what I get for listening to local radio speculation of who Harbaugh is bringing in. I totally forgot about the stroke.
  • Wonder where Mr. Norm Chow is going to end up? I think he got a raw deal in TN. Might be a good choice as an OC.
  • Done deal. He's at UCLA under Neuheisel.
  • Or, God forbid, someone other than Billick actually makes Boller better.
  • We need Troy to be named the starter.
I'm loving this new coaching staff we're putting together.
  • i love the hire. it'll bring a little experience to the coaching staff, even though cameron is pretty young. he's a pretty good offensive mind.
  • I think cam will take the ravens offensive from high school level to nfl level Also I reall y hope Rex comes back with rex in we will have one of the best coaching staffs in the nfl....... Hopefully Cam will see boller for what he really is a excellent back up!!!!
  • really? because if i were rex, i'd leave in any way possible. he got dissed - let's face it.
  • Got the shaft just like Chow did.
  • I doubt Rex will come back. If he did you guys would have a great staff, but I just don't think he will. Hopefully Cam won't convince everyone to sign Cleo Lemon. Ugh.
  • Cleo is a lemon.
  • Amen to that.
  • I would doubt it, but the Ravens actually still have their contract in place with Ryan. He was "released" meaning that he can take a head coaching job, but the Ravens can keep him from being DC somewhere else. So it looks like he's coming back. But he got dissed.
  • Yeah........I think all of the jobs have been filled now, so BALT lucks out.
