Much like Rob Gronkowski two weeks ago, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is going all out to get himself on the Madden 13 cover.  Newton has gone the way of Gronk and made a public service announcement on YouTube promoting his candidacy.  And again, much like Gronk, Newton’s plea comes off much like how your pup looks begging for your dinner.

Calvin Johnson did his little media circuit (because he has to) and politely asked that fans vote for him (because he has to).  ”One, you’ve never seen a Detroit player on the cover,” he said. “Two, it would be huge for the city. You can only imagine. Then, after that, it gives a lot to my foundation and my charities I work with back home and in Detroit.”  Per usual, Calvin isn’t about himself but rather the city of Detroit and his charities.

Cam Newton and Gronk wanted to see their mugs on the cover because they can’t get enough of themselves.  Here’s Newton’s much-too-long plea for Calvin and fans to contact him to play a game of Madden.  While the idea might be alright, the pitch is beyond terrible.

Like I’ve been preaching, go on and vote for Newton. After watching this diarrhea of the mouth, I wouldn’t mind Newton being the focus of the Madden jinx this season. VOTE NEWTON
