PLAYERS: Cam Newton
TEAMS: Carolina Panthers
Cam Newton is one of the most freakish athletes in the NFL.  His play mesmerized people during his first season as a professional.  Unfortunately, his second season has not gone as well as many had hoped.  His numbers are declining and the Panthers are one of the worst teams in the league with a record of 1-6. Halloween marks the midway point of the season and Cam needs to have a productive holiday in order to turn his and the Carolina Panthers season around.  The Falcons are rapidly pulling away and if the Panthers want any chance at salvaging their season it must start with their first game after Halloween.

Panthers waive injured CB Hogan

The Carolina Panthers have waived injured cornerback Brandon Hogan. Hogan, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2011 draft, had been on injured reserve. The Panthers took a gamble on Hogan after he tore his ACL late in his final season at West Virginia. Hogan had surgery but didn't have the benefit of working with Carolina's trainers during the lockout-shortened...

Carolina Panthers snatch defeat from jaws of victory, lose another heartbreaker to Chicago Bears

I'm still trying to figure out exactly how the Carolina Panthers managed to lose to the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The Panthers outgained the Bears by more than 200 yards, dominated the time of possession, won the turnover battle and held a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter. But, somehow, the team managed to cough up the lead and throw away another winnable game, ultimately...

DeAngelo Williams Needs to Be Traded by Panthers Before Thursday's NFL Trade Deadline Due to Crowded Backfield

The Carolina Panthers have the rare opportunity to erase a boneheaded decision made one year ago, and they have to take it. The Panthers signed DeAngelo Williams to a five-year, $43 million contract in July of 2011, and now they must trade him. The decision to sign Williams never made sense. Running backs should never be signed long-term to such large contracts...

Carolina Panthers: Week 9 NFL Power Rankings (#30)

Last week: 28 (-2) Record: 1-6 Cam Newton is now 1-10 in his career in games decided by a touchdown or less and 6-17 overall. Typically, records in touchdown games even out over time. Teams that win a game by a touchdown or less win their following game 52% of the time if that game is also decided by a touchdown or less. However, it’s very troubling that Newton has started his...

Report: DeAngelo Williams could be “on the move”

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Evan Silva, the Carolina Panthers are still taking calls on possibly trading running back DeAngelo Williams and he could end up being traded. “Could be on the move. Panthers continue to listen to phone calls. There is interest from other teams,” said Schefter. With Williams being 29 years-old, I wouldn’t bother trading for him with all...

RB Williams trying to take demotion in stride

Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams is in the second year of the five-year, $43.5 million contract yet his future in Carolina has never been more uncertain. Williams was benched two weeks ago for Jonathan Stewart and has just 13 carries for 37 yards in his last two games. He's says he's heard talk about being on the trading block, but doesn't pay much attention...

Chicago Bears Escape With a Win Over The Carolina Panthers

For more than three quarters Sunday afternoon, the NFC North leading Chicago Bears looked as though they were in big trouble against the visiting Carolina Panthers. Trailing Cam Newton’s one-win crew 13-7 at half time the Bears were even loudly booed by the Soldier Field faithful heading into the locker room."I'd boo us too," Bears quarterback Jay Cutler said. "...

Heisman Battle Set For FedEx Field On Sunday

In what will be a rare occurance to ever happen in National Football League history, the past two Heisman Trophy winners will meet at FedEx Field in Washington, DC next Sunday as the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner in Robert Griffin, III of the Washington Redskins will play host to the 2010 winner of college football’s most prestigious award in Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers. Teams Have Contacted The Panthers About Steve Smith, But Carolina Has Turned Down Offers

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that NFL teams have made calls to the Carolina Panthers to see if WR Steve Smith is available, but they’re reportedly not interested in trading him. Smith, 33, actually has a reasonable amount of money left on his contract, so there’s a chance that the Panthers could have received a decent draft pick in return for him. Smith will make $3.75...

Fantasy Football Week 9: Cam Newton Among Must-Start Quarterbacks

Jay Cutler, Chicago BearsJay Cutler came into this season as a lukewarm idea of a stud quarterback.Based on the fact the Bears' season went down the toilet last year following Cutler’s season-ending thumb injury and the addition of Brandon Marshall to the Bears' wide receiver tandem, many felt that Cutler could be a solid top 5 fantasy quarterback this year. Then there were...

Panthers-Redskins Preview

While dual-threat quarterbacks Cam Newton and Robert Griffin III are two of the most exciting players in football, their impressive skill sets haven't translated into many wins for their respective last-place teams. In a matchup featuring the last two Heisman Trophy winners, Newton and the visiting Carolina Panthers try to snap a five-game losing streak Sunday as they square...
