Cameron Sutton was reportedly at the Lions facility when the team learned of his warrant, he fled from there
Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

The Cameron Sutton story continues to get crazier and crazier. The former Detroit Lions cornerback had recently had a warrant put out for his arrest after he allegedly committed battery by strangulation on March 7th. Since then, the Hillsbourgh County Sheriffs office in Tampa, Florida have been trying to find him.

The Lions found about Sutton like everyone else did last Wednesday. They found out when the sheriffs office took to social media to post about Sutton's warrant. Lions president Rod Wood said on Monday Cameron Sutton was in Lions facility at Allen Park working with strength coaches. The Lions approached him and told him to seek council and turn himself in. He then left Allen Park.

The next day they decided to release Sutton from the team. At this point, Sutton has not turned himself in yet and the Hillsbourgh County Sheriffs have not been able to locate him.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin also said he tried to reach out to the former Steeler at the league meetings Monday morning. When asked if he was able to make contact with him, Tomlin said "none of your business."

The story is ongoing and once we have some word that Sutton has been caught or turned himself in, we'll be sure to update Lions fans at that time. Until then, he's off the team and the Lions will move forward with their next idea.

Update: Dan Miller has provided video of his exchange with Wood.
