Found November 01, 2011 on Sports Report 360:

Cam Newton has had an excellent first  half of the season in his rookie year and probably will win rookie of the year, but right now he is still regarded as the worst quarterback in the NFC South division.  He certainly has flashed a lot of potential, but he has mentioned on several occasions that he wants to be great.  But will it be possible for him to ever be considered great if he will not be best quarterback in his own division in the next few years?

Sure, maybe Josh Freeman might tail off with some inconsistent play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which would allow Newton to become the third best quarterback in the division, but it is going to very difficult for Newton to outplay Drew Brees or Matt Ryan.  His critics will believe that he will not be the best quarterback in the NFC South because at some point in the next couple of years his inaccuracy will show and the likelihood that he can continue to exceed expectations is small.

However, his supporters will believe the world should be patient and that eventually his determination will propel him to the top of the division.  I certainly do not want to take away from what Cam Newton is achieving this season, but looking over the next couple of seasons it would not be shocking if he is still regarded as the worst or third best quarterback in the NFC South.  The odds of him becoming a great quarterback in the NFL are small, when he stands so little shot of even becoming the best quarterback in his own division.

Losing to the Rams? Now That’s Scary!

In honor of Halloween weekend, the ghosts of Saints teams past apparently decided to make a special appearance at Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis. We Saints fans were having a good old time last week watching Drew Brees take a dump on the Colts’...

About Chris Long and his baseball swing

With three sacks of Drew Brees on Sunday, Chris Long had ample opportunity to show off an array of post-sack celebrations. After meeting James Hall in Brees' backyard and dumping him to the ground, Long got up, shook off backslaps...
