EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - NOVEMBER 21: Mark Sanche...

We are hitting the halfway point of pre season and Mark Sanchez seems to be confident. That’s a great thing but confidence has nothing to do with why he’s a lower level QB in the NFL. August means nothing. It shows how hard you worked in off season and in shape but what about the 4th quarter of key games? Sanchez thinks he can become part of the top 10 of elite quarterbacks in the NFL but I feel that is a huge leap for a QB who lacks accuracy. The top five quarterbacks in the league are completely out of reach for Sanchez. He’ll never be at the same level as Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Drew Brees, or Peyton Manning. Now Peyton’s spot in list could be in trouble this year due to his health but I feel if his neck heals properly he deserves to be right there with them. If Sanchez wants to make the top 10 he’s going to have to play as well or better than Ben Roethlisberger, Matthew Stafford, Jay Cutler, Matt Schaub, Matt Ryan and Tony Romo. That’s unlikely because each one of those quarterbacks have significant advantages over Sanchez at this point. Roethlisberger’s biggest edges are his confidence and physical strength. Roethlisberger has quarterbacked the Steelers to two Super Bowl championships. Few quarterbacks can take a hit like Roethlisberger, remain upright, and make a play. Stafford is a gifted passer who has all the classic characteristics that you want in a quarterback. He has size, arm strength, a quick release and accuracy. Stafford played all 16 games and he’s on his way to becoming an elite NFL quarterback. Cutler has been downgraded in the past for not being a team player, but that’s basically just the assessment of outsiders who see a smirk on his face and figure that he’s a jerk. He’s not. Well, maybe he is, but his teammates like and respect him. He has unquestionable arm strength and a first-class target in wide receiver Brandon Marshall. Schaub is one of the most accurate passers in the league when he is healthy. The Texans made the playoffs even though he got hurt last year but could be a Super Bowl team this year if Schaub can stay upright for 16 games. Schaub will also surprise opposing defenses with his arm strength. Ryan asserted himself in his rookie year with the Falcons and he has performed consistently during his four years in the NFL. He has excellent field vision, finds the open receiver and delivers the ball with accuracy. However, he needs to show he can win in the postseason, something that he has not been able to do to this point in his career. Romo is nearing the end of his time with the Dallas Cowboys because his team fails so often in the clutch. Owner Jerry Jones knows it’s not all Romo’s fault, but he is the quarterback of this franchise and he is ultimately going to be held responsible. Romo’s best asset is that he throws the most catchable ball in the league. He puts it right where his receivers want it and it settles into their hands as if it was a morning pillow. He just needs a bit more consistency. After researching all this I have to say sorry but I do not think Mark Sanchez is a top 10 QB. If he could make the top 15 it would be a huge leap in the right direction for the New York Jets. Do you agree or disagree? Comment below or tweet me @Penny_TSC.

Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow Diss Jets Fans at Practice

“Sanchez! Sanchez!” yelled the five-year old girl a few steps to my right. She wore a Mark Sanchez jersey and clutched a small poster, hoping for an autograph. “Sanchez! Come over here!” The New York Jets quarterback stood about 20 yards away talking with a trainer. He was well within earshot.“Sanchez!” she yelled. Her father and brothers stood around her, caps and yearbooks...

Darrelle Revis doubts if Jets have given Mark Sanchez enough surrounding talent

It was no secret that locker room issues played a significantly role in the Jets’ poor season last year, so the last thing they need is a confidence problem heading into 2012. From the sound of it, they may already have one. While Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow have had nothing but positive things to say about the new offense Tony Sparano is incorporating, the guys on the other side...

Sanchez edges Tebow in Madden 13

Say what you will about the wild, shirtless affair that has been the non-quarterback battle for the New York Jets. The final authority has spoken, and unless Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow are going to be facing each other on an NFL field anytime, Madden 2013 will have the ruling on who the better quarterback is. Sanchez has a better player rating and gets the starting spot for the...

Are the Jets desperately trying to unload Santonio Holmes?

New York Jets wide receiver, Santonio Holmes, is scheduled to make his first appearance of the preseason against the Carolina Panthers this Sunday. According to Mark Sanchez the rift between the Holmes and himself is “ancient” history, but rumors are circulating via Twitter that the Jets may be looking to unload Holmes. Sure, Twitter rumors are [...]

New York Jets: Offensive-Line Shuffle

Dear New York Jets, Please excuse Mark from football practice until you can provide pass protection for him so that he may live to see his 26th birthday. Signed, Sanchez’ mother To say that the Jets’ offensive line has played horribly would be an understatement. Abysmal seems appropriate as they have given up 12 sacks in two preseason games. RT Wayne Hunter has been benched...

Jets Drop Opportunity To Put Doubts To Rest

MetLife Stadium: Things were looking up.  Fans almost let out that sigh of relief. With 6:47 left in the first half—and the looming stat of being the only team in the NFL not to have scored a touchdown this preseason—rookie Quinton Coples stripped a stumbling Cam Newton, leading to Mark Sanchez and the offense taking over at the Panthers 12-yard line.Looking to finally reach pay...

Panthers hold off Jets in preseason win

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Mark Sanchez looked pretty good for nearly three quarters. He just couldn't get the New York Jets into the end zone -- again. Tim Tebow had the play of the game, but also couldn't get that elusive preseason touchdown for the Jets. Tebow got the fans fired up with a dazzling 20-yard run in the fourth quarter, but threw an interception three...

Jets yet to score a touchdown in preseason

It’s the preseason. It’s important not to get too excited or too worried about anything that happens in the preseason. Starters rarely play into the 2nd half and game plans are as vanilla as they come on both sides of the ball. Countless players don’t play for precautionary reasons with injuries they would play through during the regular season. Aaron Rodgers is 20 of 41 (48...

New York Jets: Offense Takes Small Steps Forward

New York Jets Need To Spark Lethargic Offense

The regular season hasn't started but there are many people calling the Jets an utter failure. The team hasn't scored, the quarterbacks haven't thrown a touchdown pass, and Rex Ryan's team is 0-2 after being blown out by the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants. The perception of the team can all change after Sunday's preseason game against the Carolina...
