Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos (4-0) continue to impress, more than impress, make history. Sunday they look to continue to break records as they face the Dallas Cowboys (2-2) at 2:25 (mtn time) at AT&T Stadium. Just to put it into perspective lets look at the stats from last week’s 52-20 win against Philadelphia: The Broncos scored a franchise record 52 points Team celebration after Demaryius Thomas touchdown (Photo Credit: Denver Broncos) Peyton Manning continues to set the record for the most touchdowns as the season progresses: 16 for four games. Manning has now had 24 four touchdown games which is the most in NFL history. Peyton Manning has gone 201 consecutive regular season passing attempts without an interception which is the second best in franchise history. Trindon Holliday tied his own franchise record of a 105 yard kickoff return. If Manning continues to play at that same pace he will tie or set all NFL quarterback records and many others with projected: 486-624 passing attempts, 5,880 yards, 64 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. That is a tough feat but judging by their schedule being considered the easiest in the league it is very possible. I digress, that “easy” schedule continues in Dallas who are 2-0 at home this season, have a decent running game with DeMarco Murray who has had the bulk of the carries with 72 and 356 yards and a touchdown this season. Dez Bryant is their leading receiver with 282 yards and four touchdowns. Tony Romo has had one interception and nine sacks. On defense the Broncos line will have to protect Manning from a defense who even though is the 19th ranked defense in the league still has had 14 sacks this season, tied for third in the league, specifically DeMarcus Ware who makes up the four sacks. On offense it is clear that Manning and the Broncos receivers have a scenario that works and the running game is slowly but surely improving. There is so much talent on the team that thus far it has been relatively easy for Denver to spread the workload evenly as all have similar averages. Although Denver has had great success with a defense that has to be less than perfect with key players being out, they still have a lot of work to be done considering they are ranked the 24th worst defense in the league. It is still yet to be determined on if Champ Bailey will return by Sunday and Danny Trevathan who has been a major asset to the broncos with 24 tackles so far, injured his knee wednesday and is questionable. The key for the game is for Denver to continue that record breaking run on offense, continue to limit the running game as they were pretty successful last week against the Eagles only limiting them to 166 yards, and protect Manning at all costs.
