The Eagles are winning this season, despite the play of Vick.  I did not see Vick as a Super Bowl winning QB when I was living in Atlanta, before all of his legal troubles.  The Atlanta Vick is showing up again in Philadelphia.  The turnovers and lack of ability to read defenses is leading to troubles for Vick and the offense.  Can the Eagles continue to win with Vick at QB?  Is it time to go to the rookie? Before the season started I predicted each teams record, the playoff picture and Superbowl. Now that we're reaching the half way point, it's time to update these predictions. Here was my last NFC playoff prediction: Green Bay, New Orleans, San Fran, Detroit and Chicago. NFC Championship - San Fran over Philadelphia. Here's a look at each of their seasons so far: Green Bay - The Packers have been off to a terrible start. Their defense continues to underachieve and they have to score a ton of points. The problem is, they are no scoring points. Yes the refs b...

  • They will be lucky to avoid finishing in last place in the NFC East much less making the playoffs.

Philadelphia Eagles: All fixed after Castillo firing?

Two days following the firing of Juan Castillo as defensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles, there is so much yet so little to say about the move. When all is said and done, will the action  “fix” what ails this team? No. But is Todd Bowles, the new DC for the Birds, a better fit for the role? Absolutely. So why does it still seem so bizarre? On Tuesday, when news broke...

Garrett Reid’s death ruled a heroin overdose

On Thursday came a reminder of the personal crisis facing Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid alongside his professional battle.Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek released his report on the death of Garrett Reid, 29, the coach’s eldest son. It was what the family expected and alluded to in their initial statement about the tragedy: an accidental heroin overdose. The...

For Eagles, time to make wholesale changes starting with Reid

After 14 years, it’s time for the Philadelphia Eagles and Andy Reid and Co. to part ways. It’s time now. I’ve long supported Andy Reid as a coach. I’ve had my issues with him, but in the end it always came down to who else was out there to take his place. But there are candidates and there also comes a point when change is necessary no matter what. The Eagles are there now...

Philadelphia Eagles Hypnotize With Shadow Puppets

Wake up and smell the turf, sports fans. This morning, my barber chirped exuberantly, “Hey, yo’ Eagles lookin’ good this year! They 4-2!” Um, what? Granted, my barber is one of those barbers, you know, who likes to talk with little regard for what he’s saying. Unfortunately, he’s not the only one spellbound by a team with a flashy profile and trashy production. Sports...

Bye Week Blues for Eagles.. the cumulative stats for a team at rest in Week 7...

As an antidote to the personnel drama endured by the Eagles this past week, let's at least consider the Bye Week stat compilations of the 2012 Birds so far...           Overall stats of the Eagles in first 6 games are skewed somewhat by untimely turnovers. Still, it appears to me there are early indications this team has what it takes to shake...

Eagles Fire Defensive Coordinator Juan Castillo After 3-3 Start

The Eagles the last season and a half have not been the team that their high priced payroll and flashy names would suggest. The defense was being helmed by Juan Castillo who was previously the teams offensive line coach. After losing 8 games in 2011, many of which they led in the 4th quarter, and starting off 3-3 in 2012, with the defense struggling Andy Reid and the Eagles decided...
