As if Tom Brady didn't have it good enough.

The guy has multiple Super Bowl rings, a supermodel wife, millions in the bank, and a head of hair that makes Matt Hasselbeck green with envy.

For those of you who still believe that life is fair and that nothing this good lasts forever, I’m sorry to inform you that things have actually gotten better for Brady in the last year.

Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski, at 22 and 23 years old respectively, came out of nowhere last year to become the best tight end duo the league has ever seen.

Wes Welker, still the best slot receiver in football, caught 122 passes for 1,569 yards in 2011, and is coming back to the team after signing a $9.5 million franchise-tag tender offer.  But best of all for Brady, the Patriots signed talented receiver Brandon Lloyd to be the deep threat they have so sorely missed since trading Randy Moss in 2010.

Fantasy football owners have taken notice of what’s happening in New England, and have drafted accordingly.  In my fantasy draft seven Patriots players - Brady, Gronkowski, Welker, Lloyd, Hernandez, Stevan Ridley, and even their kicker Stephen Gostkowski - were selected before even one player from the Colts (running back Donald Brown with the 87th pick).

It’s hard to imagine this offense struggling to put points on the board, but it’s also difficult to imagine a scenario in which each Patriots player, with the exception of Brady, lives up to their high fantasy expectations.

I have no doubt that Brady will take full advantage of the embarrassment of riches that surround him and have an excellent season.  But I’m not so sure that his teammates, specifically Welker, Lloyd, Gronkowski and Hernandez, can put up the sort of statistics fantasy owners are expecting.

Take Lloyd for instance.  It’s easy to get excited about a player of his caliber teaming up with Tom Brady, but on a team with so many weapons, how many targets can Lloyd really expect each game?  Or suppose the Brady-Lloyd connection does set the league on fire, and Lloyd puts up an all-pro season.  All of those catches, yards, and touchdowns will likely come at the expense of one of the other big name Patriots like Welker, Gronkowski, or Hernandez.

The Patriots’ fans should not be concerned - the Patriots offense this season has the potential to be one of the greatest of all time.  But fantasy owners who are invested in Patriots other than Tom Brady may regret their decision to draft a player on a team with so much competition for the ball.

Who knows, they may even wish they had grabbed one of the Colts instead.
