"I don't know what you can call beyond frustrated," muttered defensive end Robert Mathis, who had four tackles, a sack and two quarterback hits.
"Sounds like the same old story," grimaced cornerback Jerraud Powers, whose six tackles included two for losses.
That left it to wide receiver Reggie Wayne to sum it up after catching five passes for a season-high 122 yards and one touchdown.
"Not taking anything away from Carolina," he said, "but at the same time, we feel like we gave them the game, just like we did with quite a few games this year."
