The Oakland Raiders, never short on surprises, are planning to name Terrelle Pryor as the team’s Week 1 quarterback, as per an ESPN report. Besides this being just another instance of typical Raider-dom, the announcement marks the second season in-a-row that Matt Flynn has lost a quarterback job that was seemingly his. The former backup to Aaron Rodgers netted himself a three-year deal with a guaranteed $10 million with the Seattle Seahawks, after setting Packers single-game records with 480 passing yards and six touchdown passes in a January 2012 game against the Detroit Lions. Flynn’s glory faded fast, as he was beaten out for Seattle’s starting spot by rookie phenom-to-be Russell Wilson. Luckily for Flynn, memories of his record-setting day in Green Bay were still fresh on the minds of Raiders brass as they traded two draft picks for the career backup this past offseason. But once again, Flynn’s good fortune was short lived. Pryor owns two career passing touchdowns, which he picked up in Week 16 of last season. Oakland spent a third-round pick on Pryor in the 2011 Supplemental Draft after his checkered past at Ohio State caused him to withdraw from the school. This is so Raiders. Just win, baby!
