Happy spring folks! Last time I was here, I was discussing “Bountygate” and the New England Patriots. It’s a new season though, and over the next few months, I’ll be covering the division that the New England Patriots will actually face in the 2012 NFL season: The NFC West.
We’ll start with the last NFC West team to win the NFC Championship, the Arizona Cardinals. As most of you know, the Cardinals became a chic pick to land the services of future Hall of Fame QB Peyton Manning this month. In fact, once it became clear that the Miami Dolphins are more dedicated to being a front office sideshow than a respectable franchise (and that Arizona is where old NFL souls go to retire), it looked as if Peyton Manning would indeed join head coach Ken Whisenhunt and perhaps bring back memories of the 2008 Cardinals.
It made all the sense in the world. Relatively weak division. A more physically dominant WR in Larry Fitzgerald than anyone Manning’s ever played with (and that’s no knock at ...
BEST OF MAXIM
Most football fans expected center Jeff Saturday to follow Peyton Manning to Denver – including Manning - which is why Saturday made a call to his former quarterback after signing his two-year deal with the Green Bay Packers.According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Saturday explained to Manning that the Packers were a better fit for him than the Broncos. "Peyton is a close...
According to Lindsay H. Jones of the Denver Post, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was seen working out at a local Denver area high school with some of his new teammates.
Manning took snaps from center J.D. Walton and threw passes to wide receiver Eric Decker and tight end Julius Thomas.
“Just some drill work, talking through stuff, so he gets familiar with the verbage and...
I’ve wanted to write something on this all week but haven’t gotten around to it. Luckily for you, I’m still going to talk about it. If you’re already sick of hearing about it, then feel free to move on.
If you’re not already aware, there was a report from Sam Farmer of the LA Times this week with some interesting tidbits on Andy Reid.
Here’s what the article said:
Obviously Peyton Manning felt he had unfinished business. Among the items on his to-do list are some records currently held by Brett Favre and Dan Marino. Weller Ross takes a look at those records and finds that Manning may find himself at the top of the charts sooner rather than later:
So similarly to completions, Peyton should catch Marino this year, and despite being 109 behind...
For a team that went all in on Peyton Manning, largely at the behest of owner Bud Adams, and lost, the Tennessee Titans recovered pretty nicely.
The Titans' biggest need in free agency was not at the quarterback position, though snagging an elite player like Manning at the position was something that could not have been turned away.
Instead, the Titans filled the biggest gap...
Peyton Manning a Bronco, Tim Tebow a Jet and Mario Williams a Bill? What a crazy start to free agency.
What do you get when you mix Chris Cornell with Adam Sandler and then add a whole bunch of Tebow and Manning? How’s song parody gold sound!
I know everyone is tired of all the Peyton Manning, Tim Tebow song parodies but this one is far and away better than the rest. Enjoy The Sports original song called “Tebow Might Be Jesus (But Peyton Manning is God). This throwback ballad...
"Team spirit" is infectious.
We love it. That is one of the reasons we enjoy football so much. There are few things more enjoyable than watching a calm, mild-mannered individual reduced to a quivering pile of fury at what he perceives to be a blown call. Or consider the chills that run down the spine when a group of complete strangers sees that unexpected turnover and...
I expressed earlier this week that Manning to Denver (and thus, Tebow out of town) was a move I could support. I definitely see the logic behind the decision and bringing in one of the best the game has ever seen instantly places the Broncos in the playoff/Super Bowl conversation.
That’s fine. The move is a [...]

Caleb Hanie has just completed the Circle of Luck. Or so we’ve chosen to believe. Wait, what’s the “Circle of Luck?”
In Indianapolis, Andrew Luck replaces Peyton Manning, who replaces Tim Tebow in Denver, who replaces Drew Stanton in New York, who will back up Luck in Indy. Now, Hanie heads to the Broncos to replace…Tebow? I guess...
Not even the allure of playing with new Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has swayed Brian Dawkins about whether to continue his illustrious 16-year NFL career.
"My decision will be based upon me making the right decision for me going forward - period," the nine-time Pro Bowl safety told me and co-host Jim Miller on Sirius XM NFL Radio. "That's a decision...
If you work for a company like Clear Channel that sells billboard space, you have to be pretty happy when something Tim-Tebow-related happens. Last season, there was the billboard in Denver calling for Broncos coach John Fox to bench starting quarterback Kyle Orton in favor of Tebow.
Ultimately, that happened.
Then, when the Broncos began pursing Peyton Manning, another billboard...
The Broncos reportedly were looking to move Tim Tebow before they even knew they were going to get Peyton Manning.
In an article about Jacksonville’s failed attempt to acquire Tebow from the Broncos via trade, Tania Ganguli of The Florida Times-Union says Denver began quietly shopping the religious quarterback at the scouting combine in February.
The combine ran from February...
I'm kind of a big deal T...
Not So Free Agents
The Holy Grail of Free Agents was landed by John Elway and the Broncos. What does this mean for fantasy? Lots of things. Let’s start with Manning himself. Peyton was as good as it gets from a fantasy perspective for over a decade. 4,000 yards and 28 TDs was in the bag every single year...
