Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic expects to see the Cardinals show interest in QB Carson Palmer if the Raiders decide to part ways with him in the next few weeks. Somers adds that the Cardinals don’t appear to be targeting a quarterback in the first-round, but could look to add someone later in the draft. “I think all speculators look at need and not the draft board,” said Head Coach Bruce Arians. If you draft for need, you’re in trouble. Just because you need one you don’t take one. If there’s a better player there who’s going to help your football team. If there’s a quarterback who fits the spot in the draft that you put him at, that fits the value, then you take one.“ Arizona signed Drew Stanton a few weeks ago with the intention of allowing him to compete for the starting job. Palmer could be a good fit in Arians’ offense, but their offensive line would really need to holdup next season if Carson is indeed under center. Previous reports tossed out North Carolina State QB Mike Glennon as a possible mid-round target for the Cardinals. Palmer, 33, graded out as the No. 19 quarterback in the league, according to Pro Football Focus. He was able to improve his play last season after coming out of retirement mid-year following a trade to Oakland.
