There are high hopes all around for the Arizona Cardinals after bringing in former Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer. They still believe Palmer is still the player he was many years ago, when he was chosen to Pro Bowl. Problem is, that was back in 2006, and Palmer is 33 years-old now. But that's not stopping many in Arizona from believing  that Palmer is still the guy. General Manager Steve Keim has been watching Palmer closely, and he feels good about the decision to bring him in. Carson actually had a good year statistically last year in Oakland, passing for 4,018 yards and completing 61.1 percent of his passes. “We started doing our due diligence on Carson in January,” Keim said, via the Arizona Republic. “And with our new video system, I was able to cut up every one of his passing plays for the last three seasons. I came away very, very pleasantly surprised. A lot of times in this business, you base your opinions on reputations. And when you study a guy, you come away disappointed or surprised. In this case, I saw that Carson still has the zing and can still make all the throws. That’s huge, especially with what Bruce [Arians] wants out of his quarterback.” “Adding a piece like Carson to the puzzle really does energize everybody,” Keim added. “He’s a plug-and-play guy with lots of experience, who has seen every NFL defense. His career speaks for itself.” var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
