PLAYERS:
Brian Hoyer
Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com expects to see the Cardinals place a restricted tender on free agent QB Brian Hoyer.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Hoyer was not an unrestricted free agent like many assumed he was. The Patriots released Hoyer before he was able to accrue a third season, which means he remains a restricted free agent.
Arizona will have an opportunity to retain for a limited cost, should they elect to use a restricted tender on him. Urban mentions that the Cardinals could end up placing a low round tender on Hoyer, which would run them close to $1.3 million.
The Cardinals will be on the lookout for a quarterback this offseason, but they could retain Hoyer long enough to get a look at him during training camp.
