Count Arizona Cardinals restricted free agent nose tackle Gabe Watson among the ever-growing list of NFL players undergoing an MMA-style training regimen this off-season. Watson--who is listed at 6-4 and 329 pounds on the Cardinals' official website--has shed 12 pounds of body fat and has "better cardio vascular conditioning as well as improved balance and proprioceptive" after just three weeks working with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coach Carlos Farias. Watson lost his starting job to Bryan Robinson in 2008, and has appeared in 27 games over the last two seasons, posting 48 tackles and a quarterback sack. The Cardinals tendered Watson at the "Second Round" level in 2010, the second consecutive year they have done so. With the selection of first-round nose tackle Dan Williams last month, and the team re-signing Robinson, though, Watson is in for a battle this summer just to make the Cardinals' 53-man roster.
