The Arizona Cardinals have placed running back Beanie Wells on the NFL's new injured reserve/designated for return list, meaning he won't be able to play in a game until Nov. 25.
Wells was injured in Sunday's 27-6 win over Philadelphia.
The new list requires Wells to stay out of practice until Nov. 7 and prohibits him from playing in a game until the Cardinals are home against the St. Louis Rams on Nov. 25.
With the injury, the bulk of the Arizona running game will be handled by second-year pro Ryan Williams, who rushed for 83 yards in 13 carries against Philadelphia.
In a corresponding move, the Cardinals re-signed running back Alfonso Smith.

On the Arizona Cardinals' injury front, defensive end Darnell Dockett suffered a strained right hamstring in the Red Birds' impressive 27-6 triumph over the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday. Arizona's coaches and management don't think it's too serious at this point but more should be known by mid-week. If Dockett can't play on Sunday against Miami, the Cardinals...
The Arizona Cardinals have placed oft injured running back Chris ‘Beanie’ Wells on the new ‘designated for return’ Injured Reserve list, meaning that Wells is ineligible to practice with the Cardinals for the next six weeks and cannot return to game action until week 12 at the earliest. While this is just more bad news for Wells, it is excellent news for his successor in...
Kevin Kolb seems firmly at the controls in Arizona, riding high with a Cardinals team off to a 3-0 start for the first time in 38 years.
Yet looming is a decision on whether he remains the starter, or the job goes back to John Skelton, who beat out Kolb in the preseason but has been sidelined by a sprained ankle since late in the season opener against Seattle.
Kolb came on to direct...
Cardinals running back Ryan Williams will carry the majority of the rushing workload while Beanie Wells (turf toe) is sidelined.Fantasy Spin:Williams will certain have a golden opportunity to show his stuff and become an every week fantasy starter. The Cardinals aren't going to throw the ball all over the lot, therefore holding down the starting spot could be a huge break for...
According to Kent Somers of the Sporting News, Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb is expected to hold on to the starting job even when John Skelton is healthy again, as long as he keeps winning.
I don’t see why Kolb should lose his job as long as he protects the football and the Cardinals keep on winning.
(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated. With AP Photos.) By BOB BAUM AP Sports Writer Everyone associated with the Arizona Cardinals knew that it was just a matter of time before Larry Fitzgerald had another big game.
After all, it has happened so many times before.
So to the surprise of no one, after a slow start in the first two games of the season, Fitzgerald caught nine passes for...
They are the story of the league, at least in terms of an on on the field product around the league. While everyone obsesses about the replacement officials and the integrity of the game, the Cardinals have gone out there and won their first three games of the season.
In convincing fashion no less. Seattle, New England and Philly. Three very solid teams that have been beaten...
The first place Arizona Cardinals. It has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Let’s take a look at Arizona’s report card based on their 27-6 thumping of the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday at University of Phoenix Stadium: Offense Grade: B + Finally, the Red Birds showed a semblance of a running game. Ryan Williams had [...]

The 1-2 Miami Dolphins will look to derail the Arizona Cardinals' undefeated season on Sunday at The University of Phoenix stadium in Arizona. The Dolphins are coming off a heartbreaking 23-20 OT loss to the Jets at home.Running back Reggie Bush was forced to leave the game with a knee injury and his status for this week's matchup against the Cardinals is uncertain.Dolphins...
Miami Dolphins (1-2) at Arizona Cardinals (3-0)
The Cardinals are 3-0 right now, but they’re incredibly overrated. Do you really trust anyone on this offense other than Larry Fitzgerald? The defense is great, but I don’t think they’re well rounded enough to make the playoffs in a loaded NFC. They have a negative yards per play differential and rank tied for 30th in offensive...
THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF freshmen long have been a discussion point as Washington State continues through its rebuilding process. That was no different Tuesday morning as coach Mike Leach discussed the contributions some of his younger players have made during his weekly Pac-12 coaches teleconference.
Charles Davis, FOX Sports' lead college football analyst, joins Matt this week to discusses the controversy surrounding the NFL replacement referees and offers his insight on the Arizona Cardinals' 3-0. He also talks about why the SEC continues to be dominant and why he is so impressed with both new head coaches at ASU and Arizona.
Among his observations:
