Cardinals rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. teases jersey number on social media
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

When the Arizona Cardinals drafted Marvin Harrison Jr with the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Cardinals were eager to buy his jersey and more of his merchandise. However, they could not because Marvin Harrison Jr did not sign his NFLPA group licensing deal that allowed the NFL to market his name image, and likeness with many companies. We might finally have an update on the saga, via Harrison Jr’s Instagram.

Marvin Harrison Jr Has a History With Fanatics

What has been reported is that Marvin Harrison Jr and Fanatics disagreed on a deal when Marvin was a sophomore in college. In his final year at Ohio State, Harrison Jr signed a deal with Fanatics worth over $1 million that allowed the sale of signed merchandise, like trading cards, and game-worn apparel. Harrison Jr is trying to use his holdout with the NFLPA to renegotiate for more money.

Pat McAfee discussed these reports on his ESPN show recently stating:

“So, it goes all the way into your second year of the NFL,” McAfee said. “Marvin Harrison, who doesn’t need the money, said, ‘We’re not taking that deal. We’re not signing the deal.’ What we have been told is the price of Marvin Harrison Jr. as a rookie and second-year in the NFL is not the same as when he was a sophomore in college.”

McAfee was pushing to encourage both sides to resolve while doing what’s best for themselves, to help fans get their hands on the superstar’s jersey.

Marvin Harrison Jr Teases Jersey on His Instagram

When Marvin Harrison Jr was drafted by the Cardinals, it was unclear what number he would wear as at the time outside linebacker BJ Olajauri wore number 18, Marvin’s college number. However, yesterday Marvin Harrison Jr posted a picture on his personal Instagram of what appeared to be his Arizona Cardinals home red uniform with the number 18 and his last name on it.

This was the first massive news update with links to Harrison Jr’s merchandise. This image was very exciting for the Cardinals community to see and perhaps is a sign of good negotiations taking place.

Marvin Harrison Jr Says “Cardinals Memorabilia Coming Soon” On His Website

Marvin Harrison Jr has his website, The Official Harrison Collection, in which he sells his merchandise. The merchandise consists of big-ticket items that all appear to be autographed. On the website, there is text that reads “Cardinals Memorabilia Coming Soon.”

Marvin Harrison Jr also signed a lucrative deal with New Balance before the 2024 NFL Draft. Harrison Jr will be the first NFL player to sport New Balance’s new football performance cleat in NFL games this upcoming season.
