The Cardinals stayed over in Florida last week in order to better prepare for a second consecutive road game. It’s hard to imagine how much worse they would have played had they spent the week at home. But they were fortunate to be playing the winless Bucs who started a rookie quarterback Mike Glennon. The Cardinals scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to overcome a 10-point deficit and win 13-10 at Raymond James Stadium. The victory evened the Cardinals record at 2-2 and dropped the Bucs to 0-4. Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson made the key play. For some reason the Bucs had Glennon passing on second down from his own 11 with four minutes left. Peterson picked it off and the Cardinals scored to tie the game on the next play. The defense stuff the Bucs on the next possession and the Cardinals took over at Tampa Bay 38 with 1:56 remaining. An unnecessary roughness call after a reception put the Cardinals at the 9. Two plays gained 1 yard and quarterback Carson Palmer took a knee on third down. That forced the Bucs to take their final timeout and Jay Feely who is from Tampa made a 27-yard field goal to give Arizona its first lead of the game 13-10. Peterson clinched the victory with another interception with 48 seconds remaining. The Cardinals entered the game damaged by injuries. But for much of the game they looked worse than the Bucs. Tampa Bay’s offense didn’t do much but it committed only one turnover to the Cardinals 3 and scored one touchdown to the Cardinals none. The Cardinals offense displayed only moments of competence. They came early in the third quarter when they drove from their 8 yard line to the Bucs 11. They gained four first downs one more than they did the entire first half and converted a third-down one more than they did in the first half.
