It’s been relatively uneventful since the Cards broke minicamp, but there’s some news to report now. The Cardinals signed former Cleveland Browns fullback Charles Ali this past Friday (5/7) to a one year deal. Ali will compete for playing time with fellow Cardinals fullbacks Nehemiah Broughton and Reagan Maui’a. After the latter two fullback’s names, Charles Ali sounds disappointingly bland.
Ali (6′2″, 255 lbs.) started his career in Cleveland in 2007. In 2009, he briefly played for the New York Sentinels in the UFL en route to the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens brought Ali back after the 2009 season, but Baltimore released him in April; now he’s a Cardinal.
CARDS NOTES:
- Darren Urban posted an article on the Cards’ official website regarding recovery from ACL injuries, which is timely considering what rookie OLB O’Brien Schofield is facing this year.
- It’s reported that Bodog has given the Cardinals 3-1 odds in landing the newly released mega-bust Jamarcus Russell. Here’s the most likely teams according to Bodog’s odds: Cardinals- 3/1, Bills- 7/2, Jaguars- 4/1, Miami- 6/1, Bengals- 7/1, 49ers- 15/2, Titans- 8/1. So the Cards are going to pass on Donovan McNabb and Marc Bulger to sign Jamarcus Russell? Pure lunacy.
