Carson Palmer is 33 years old, an interception machine, and hasn’t made a Pro Bowl since 2006, but the Arizona Cardinals think he can still be an elite quarterback. Cardinals GM Steve Keim says he began to study Palmer immediately after he was promoted to the top spot in Arizona’s front office three months ago. The more Keim looked at Palmer, the more he liked what he saw, and what he saw was a guy still in the prime of his career. “We started doing our due diligence on Carson in January,” Keim told the Arizona Republic. “And with our new video system, I was able to cut up every one of his passing plays for the last three seasons. I came away very, very pleasantly surprised. A lot of times in this business, you base your opinions on reputations. And when you study a guy, you come away disappointed or surprised. In this case, I saw that Carson still has the zing and can still make all the throws. That’s huge, especially with what Bruce [Arians] wants out of his quarterback.” Keim feels the addition of Palmer changes everything offensively for the Cardinals. “Adding a piece like Carson to the puzzle really does energize everybody,” Keim said. “He’s a plug-and-play guy with lots of experience, who has seen every NFL defense. His career speaks for itself.” Palmer passed for 4,018 yards and complete 61.1 percent of his passes last season for the Raiders, and should be able to be extremely productive throwing to Larry Fitzgerald. Cardinals GM: Carson Palmer is a 'plug-and-play guy with lots of experience'

There are high hopes all around for the Arizona Cardinals after bringing in former Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer. They still believe Palmer is still the player he was many years ago, when he was chosen to Pro Bowl. Problem is, that was back in 2006, and Palmer is 33 years-old now. But that's not stopping many in Arizona from believing  that Palmer is still the guy. General...

Carson Palmer Is a Big Fan of Arizona Cardinals Head Coach Bruce Arians

It didn’t take long to find out how Carson Palmer felt about his new head football coach. “I’ve been a fan of (his) offense for a long time. This is just a great situation,” the new Cardinals quarterback said about Bruce Arians via yahoosports.com.”They want to win now. And at the point I’m in, in my career, I want to win now, too.” The relationship between a quarterback...

Carson Palmer says joining the Cardinals was a 'hands down no-brainer'

Carson Palmer wanted out of Oakland so badly he was ready to be a back up for a winner rather starting another year for the Raiders. He wouldn't take a pay cut, forcing the Raiders to have to release or trade him. Oakland chose the latter in an attempt to get some value for him, and thus traded Palmer to the Cardinals. Palmer is a happy man now, he knows he'll be in...

Cardinals’ 2013 draft needs: Safety

The Arizona Cardinals in one fell swoop released Adrian Wilson and Kerry Rhodes, which leaves the Cards looking for two starting safeties in the 2013 NFL draft. We’ll still have to see if Rashad Johnson can step up to become the long-term solution at strong safety, but free safety will definitely be a spot to fill. So the Cardinals 2013 draft needs will include safety, but who...

NFL Draft Team Needs: Arizona Cardinals

1. Offensive Tackle: Arizona has one of the worst tackle situations in all of football; just ask Kevin Kolb. Whoever their quarterback is just won't stand a chance if the line stays the same. A tackle in round one is almost a lock unless Joekel, Fisher, and Johnson are all gone at 7 overall. 2. Quarterback: Stanton and Palmer are currently Arizona's two quarterbacks. Neither...

Cardinals looking at Barkley as QB of future?

In Carson Palmer -- whom coach Bruce Arians described as "our starter" earlier this week at Palmer's introductory press conference -- the Cardinals have their quarterback. Their quarterback for now, anyway. Palmer, 33, is on a reworked two-year deal that includes a club option for 2015, and the only other quarterbacks on the roster are backup Drew Stanton -- a six...
