Josh Norman intercepts four passes in practice

Despite coming from a small-time college football program at Division 1-AA Coastal Carolina, Josh Norman never doubted that he would ultimately play in the NFL.

The rookie cornerback certainly doesn’t mind tooting his own horn, and has quickly gained a reputation of being cocky.

In June OTAs, the fifth-round pick took a jab at Panthers star wideout Steve Smith, telling the Charlotte Observer that he not only stayed step-for-step the 11-year veteran, but even frustrated him with his defense.

Now, Norman – who missed most of the first two weeks of training camp with a hamstring injury – backed up his off-the-field brazenness with an incredible four-interception performance in Tuesday’s practice.

When asked about his play, the 24-year-old former All-American acted it like it was just another day at the office.

“Just gotta do it again tomorrow,” he told the Charlotte Observer.

Newton, Tebow share GQ cover

Cam Newton continues to be one of the most glamorous athletes in the world of sports.

The Panthers triggerman will share the doubled-sided cover of the September issue of GQ magazine with New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow.

Readers will get an inside look at the lives of these two young iconic footballs stars, including Newton’s appearance at the Madden 7-on-7 National Championship and the initiatives of his youth foundation.

Beason, Davis getting close

After tearing his Achilles last season and pulling a hamstring in training camp, Jon Beason is almost back to top form.

The Pro Bowl linebacker is hoping to return to action in the Panthers’ third preseason game against the New York Jets.

"That was the timetable we set when I first did it. Obviously, if I don't feel 100 percent, 90 percent's not going to get me on the field for that (Jets) game," Beason told the Charlotte Observer.

Regardless, Beason said he would absolutely be ready for the regular-season opener at Tampa Bay.

Thomas Davis – Beason’s teammate and fellow hobbled linebacker – should be ready to play against the Miami Dolphins on Friday.
