PLAYERS: Cam Newton
TEAMS: Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton spent the first 75-percent of his 2012-13 season fighting off the perception that he was a selfish malcontent with zero leadership skills.

Poorly executed post-game press conferences and sideline sulk fests sent the wrong message to observers and the Panthers fan base.

For all of his talent, Cam Newton appeared to be hopping onboard the same train that sent Vince Young to the unemployment line.

Newton eventually pulled up and finished his sophomore season strong by learning from his mistakes and abandoning the attitude that was outshining his marquee talent.

But the lingering feeling is still there that he must be consistent.

Carolina Panthers Sign LB Ben Jacobs

The Carolina Panthers have signed LB Ben Jacobs. Jacobs last played in the NFL during the 2011 season with the Browns.
