Attending an unveiling of a larger than life statue of himself at Auburn University, Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton promises vast improvement over his Rookie of the Year performance of 2011. Newton, speaking to reporters after the ceremony, said that he thinks his improvement in 2012 can be “through the roof.” Newton now has an entire offseason which allows him to work with his coaching staff. In his rookie season, Newton wasn’t allowed any contact with the Carolina Panthers due to the owner’s lockout and had to learn the Panthers playbook on the fly. “With reviewing all the games from last year, I feel that the improvement is through the roof for me. I’ve had the whole offseason to work on things that I feel I need to get better at (and that) will come to fruition.
