The Carolina Panthers, at 1-4, must beat the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday if they want to remain relevant this season.

Unfortunately, they will have to do it without starting cornerback Chris Gamble, and, most likely, starting linebacker Jon Beason.

Gamble, who is listed as out, is battling a shoulder injury that could potentially sideline him for the rest of this season, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Gamble first hurt his shoulder against the Falcons in Week 4. After sitting out the Seattle game the following Sunday and resting during the bye week, the ninth-year pro returned to practice on Wednesday. However, he reinjured his shoulder jamming a receiver during drills.

Gamble is schedule to get an MRI this weekend, which will likely determine his fate for the rest of the year.

Captain Munnerlyn will start in his place opposite rookie Josh Norman. Josh Thomas will be in the mix as well.

Beason, who missed his third straight practice on Friday, is battling a knee injury. Head coach Ron Rivera called the three-time Pro Bowler "very doubtful" for Sunday's game, the Charlotte Observer reported.

If Beason is unable to suit up, rookie Luke Kuechly will start at middle linebacker for the second consecutive game.
