Seems that word is David Carr is better suited to be the Niners backup QB this season than Colin Kaepernick.
The word out of San Francisco is that veteran David Carr, who played under new Niners offensive coordinator Greg Roman in Houston, is a better bet to be the primary backup to QB Alex Smith this season than second-rounder Colin Kaepernick. While new head coach Jim Harbaugh reportedly couldn’t be more excited about Kaepernick’s potential, word is the abbreviated offseason training situation gives Carr a distinct edge, at least initially, in handling an offense that we hear is more than a little complex.
