Undrafted free agent Case Keenum is making a strong impression in Houston Texans camp.
The undersized quarterback may be a long shot to make the roster but, according to the Houston Chronicle, head coach Gary Kubiak has been impressed with his performance thus far. Kubiak told reporters, “Guys kind of gravitate to him. We’ve got guys from all over this country trying to make this team, and he can take his group and get them going in the right direction.”
T.J. Yates already has the backup job locked up in Houston, but there is a chance the team decides to carry three quarterbacks, especially considering Matt Schaub’s recent injury history. And even if Houston elects to stick with just two signal callers, it sounds as though they would be happy to stash Keenum on the practice squad.
BEST OF MAXIM
The great thing about preseason is there are always storylines the fans love to run with and the early part of preseason look no further than the Houston Texans’ return man, Trindon Holliday. He captured the attention of Texans’ fans everywhere with his electric 90 yard kickoff return for a touchdown against the Carolina Panthers.

The second preseason game is in the books and the Houston Texans came out with a win over the San Francisco 49ers, 20-9. As always, there was plenty news and notes from the game and some players making some noise to stay with the Texans into week 1. Game two of the preseason has helped separate some players from others and let fans get a better idea on how the coaches and front...
Coming off of the franchise’s first playoff berth since the team joined the NFL in 2002, the Houston Texans have several reasons to believe that last year’s success was the start of something special.
The naysayers said they would never reach the postseason, the critics insisted last season was over once Matt Schaub went down in Week 10, and the analysts had lost hope due to...
One of the things that the Texans front office has been leaking to the press for close to a year now was that they wanted to come to an agreement on a extension with franchise left tackle Duane Brown before he entered the final season of his current deal. As it turns out, they were telling the truth.
In a season that saw Brown get a pro bowl snub after allowing only 2 sacks for...
Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub looked very good in the team's preseason game Saturday against the 49ers, completing 11-of-14 for 128 yards and a touchdown.
Schaub is an injury risk but if he plays a full season like he did in 2009 and 2010 hes a near-lock to post top-10 quarterback numbers, even if the Texans are likely to favor the running game.
Texans receiver Andre Johnson looks healthy and ready to go for the start of the regular season.Fantasy Spin:Johnson caught two passes in Houston's preseason game Saturday against San Francisco, but one was a 43-yarder. Johnson will be a steal in fantasy drafts if he can stay intact.
2011 in a Nutshell: 10-6 AFC South Champions; Lost Divisional Playoff
Last year was both a great success for the Texans and a massive disappointment, they won double digit games for the first time in franchise history, won their first division title, played in, hosted and won their first ever playoff game in franchise history. You would think that would have made any fan ecstatic...
HOUSTON (AP) -- Matt Schaub threw a touchdown pass to Lestar Jean, Trindon Holliday returned a punt for another score and Houston's defense stifled San Francisco in the Texans' 20-9 win over the 49ers on Saturday night.
Schaub completed 11 of 14 passes for 128 yards in two quarters, looking sharp in his second game since fracturing his right foot in Week 10 last season....
After attaining their first-ever playoff appearance and postseason victory in franchise history last season, the Houston Texans enter 2012 already as a popular pick among many pundits to make the trip to the big stage in New Orleans.
“I think it’s Super Bowl or bust for them,” NFL Network’s Albert Breer said late last week on SportsRadio 610. ”I asked Andre Johnson...
Gary Kubiak said Trindon Holliday had to do something spectacular in the preseason to make the Houston Texans' final roster.
How is this, Coach?
Holliday returned a punt 87 yards for a touchdown, a week after scoring on a 90-yard kickoff return, and Matt Schaub threw a touchdown pass to Lestar Jean in the Texans' 20-9 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night....
This would be a dream matchup if only it weren't a preseason game.
The San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans represent the two most complete teams in the NFL.
The similarities between them stretch from their solid run game, to their effective-yet-underrated quarterbacks, to two of the best run defenses in the league.
This would be a dream Super Bow for many - especially in...
