The Green Bay Packers’ secondary improved when defensive coordinator Dom Capers elevated Casey Hayward to a part-time role in Week 2 as the dime cornerback. Now, we might see if the second-round draft pick can step into a full-time job in place of injured Sam Shields and, if not again be an improvement, at least keep the defense functioning at the level it has been.Shields sustained a shin injury last week at Houston and is unlikely to play Sunday at St. Louis.Hayward already has 3 interceptions and leads all rookies.  The product from Vanderbilt has been impressive this season and will look to add to his total. He will be facing up against a very soft offense in the Rams.  Expect Hayward to eat good if he does in fact get the start.
