San Diego Chargers defensive end Luis Castillo has a broken tibia that may cost him at least half the season.
In Sunday's win over the Minnesota Vikings, Castillo had to be taken off the field in a cart while wearing a large brace on his leg.
Castillo just began his seventh season with the Chargers. He had 26 tackles and three sacks last season.
To replace Castillo, the Chargers re-signed nose tackle Ogemdi Nwagbuo, who had 38 tackles and 1.5 sacks in two seasons with San Diego before being cut this summer. Nwagbuo also can play defensive end.
