Although he was a long shot in making the team, Harris' performance in training camp and practices ultimately won him a spot on the roster. In 2011, his rookie season, Harris made the Broncos All-Rookie Team and received the team’s Breakout Player of the Year. Harris’s rookie season ended with a total of 65 tackles (56 solos), six special teams tackles, six pass breakups and an interception. Harris’s success for the Broncos continued in 2012 as Harris started a career-high 12 games, where he set a career best 12 passes defended and 2.5 sacks, and ended the season ranked 5th in the NFL in receiving yards allowed. The undrafted player for Kansas University has put himself in a position to be a staring cornerback for the team in the near future, whenever Champ bailey decides to retire or if injuries occur, but he’ll be a starter one day. “That’s who Chris Harris is,” Harris said, via Brandon Moree of DenverBroncos.com.  “That’s who I am. I can’t change who I am. I’ve always been a hungry player, always been a guy that always fights for the team. Once that chip is off, that’s not Chris Harris out there.” “I have to prove myself every day. I’m undrafted, I have a slim opportunity and I have to take advantage of my opportunity every day,” Harris said. “That’s just how I approach every day that I have to get better and if Peyton is going to throw that ball out there, I have to make a play on it.”
