Atlanta Falcons cornerback Christopher Owens did not practice Wednesday because of a concussion. Owens was injured in the first quarter of Atlanta's 27-21 victory over Denver on Monday night, further depleting a secondary that already lost cornerback Brent Grimes with a season-ending injury in Week 1. Dominique Franks has moved up to take the nickel back spot. Antone Smith, a backup running back and special teams player, also skipped practice because of a hamstring injury. Receivers Julio Jones and Roddy White, linebackers Stephen Nicholas and Sean Weatherspoon, defensive end John Abraham and offensive tackle Tyson Clabo had limited participation because of minor ailments. But coach Mike Smith said he was mainly trying to keep them fresh during a short week. The Falcons (2-0) travel to San Diego to face the Chargers on Sunday.

Michael Turner charged with DUI

Falcons running back Michael Turner was arrested and charged with DUI as well as speeding early Tuesday morning, just hours after Atlanta's win over Denver.

Roddy White to play vs Broncos

Roddy White has tweeted that he expects to play tonight against the Broncos. This isn’t really breaking news, but his name has appeared on the injury report in consecutive weeks. I am not worried about his minor injuries and believe he will be a strong WR1 in most weeks. Many White owners are concerned about the growth of Julio Jones, but Matt Ryan is slowly becoming the type of...

Atlanta Falcons: Week 3 NFL Power Rankings (#5)

Last week: 5 (+0) Record: 2-0 I wasn’t that impressed with the Falcons on Monday Night. I felt like they should have been up 20 given how badly the Broncos started and how much they turned the ball over, but they didn’t capitalize like they should have. They lost the yardage total battle and the yards per play battle and if it wasn’t for those 4 turnovers, they probably would...

Replacement ref gets hit during Falcons-Broncos

For those of you who hate NFL replacement refs, this might be the video for you. During tonight's Atlanta Falcons/Denver Broncos game, a mini-fight broke out after a fumble recovery and it appears that one NFL replacement ref took one of the chin. While Atlanta defensive end Ray Edwards was engaged with Broncos defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson in an altercation, Edwards takes...

Falcons RB Michael Turner celebrates win over Broncos by getting busted for DUI and speeding

Are professional athletes just dumb and/or reckless, or do they think they’re above the law because of their celebrity status?  I make a hell of a lot less money in a year than these guys do and even I have the good sense to take a taxi home if I’ve been out drinking.  So why do athletes have such a hard time grasping such a simple concept, especially when they are wealthy...

Ryan, Falcons beat mistake-prone Broncos

ATLANTA (AP) -- Peyton Manning kept throwing up wobbly passes. The Atlanta Falcons kept picking them off. Taking advantage of a stunning three interceptions in the first quarter, Matt Ryan and the Falcons built a big lead and held on for a 27-21 victory over the Denver Broncos on Monday night, an erratic effort by Manning that showed his comeback in the Mile High City is still...

Atlanta Falcons running back charged with DUI after beating Denver Broncos

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner was charged with driving under the influence and also speeding.  This all happened after the Falcons beat the Denver Broncos on Monday night. Michael Turner was booked at the Gwinnett County Jail in the early morning hours and was released on bond after paying $2,179.  According to the report...

Falcons defense stymies Broncos

The Falcons extended their record to 2-0 with a 27-21 win over the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football. It marks the fifth straight season where the Falcons won their home opener under Mike Smith. Matt Ryan had another strong performance, completing 24 of 36 passes for 219 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also added 19 yards on 6 carries on the ground. Michael Turner led rushers...

What to say when your NFL player is in trouble with the law

Michael Turner's DUI arrest last night after his Falcons beat Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos treated fans to another soothing yet empty team statement that tells nothing. Most NFL franchises have the routine down pat. For those that don't, This Given Sunday shares this template of what to say when the fertilizer hits the ventilator. The [insert team name...

Denver Broncos vs. Atlanta Falcons: Five Things We Learned

After a weekend full of exciting football matchups, I was excited to watch the Monday night game featuring the meeting of two undefeated teams, the Denver Broncos visiting the Atlanta Falcons. Ok, the league has only played one week, but Denver was impressive in beating Pittsburgh 31 to 19 at home on September 9 in the Sunday night game while Atlanta used a dominant second half in...

21 Best NSFW ‘Peyton Manning Is A Worthless INT Throwing Bum’ F-Bomb Tweets

If you weren’t watching the game, you’ve probably heard by now. Peyton Manning threw three interceptions in the first quarter of last nights game against the Atlanta Falcons. This is something Peyton hasn’t done since 2007  and something nobody saw coming after his strong showing against the Steelers last week. The Broncos ended up making a fourth quarter push, but couldn’t...
