The Patriots will play host to two of the most prominent remaining free agents, Chad Clifton and Plaxico Burress. Clifton was cut by the Packers earlier this offseason after failing a physical and looked likely to retire at age 36, but if he can prove heās healthy, he might be solid veteran depth behind 2nd year left tackle Nate Solder, who is going into his first year as a full time starter, in the absence of the retired Matt Light. Solder struggled in the Patriotsā 1st preseason game last week.
Burress, meanwhile, caught 45 passes for 612 yards and 8 touchdowns last season, but as drawn no interest this offseason, heading into his age 35 season. That seemed strange, considering guys like Randy Moss, Chad Ochocinco, and Terrell Owens all signed, but apparently he had too high of an asking price, which he has since dropped. Heās drawn interest from the Cowboys and Patriots since doing that. If signed, heād be nothing more than the 4th receiver at best in New England and would have t...

When Miami Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin addressed the media regarding Chad Johnson's release on Monday, he was sure to point out that it wasn't just the receiver's weekend arrest that forced the team to sever ties. But while the troublesome Johnson may not have been "a good fit," as Philbin put it on Monday, there may be another receiver on the free-agent...

He hauled in the touchdown reception, which would go on to seal the Patriots first and only defeat of the 2007 season, served two years in prison for violating the New York state gun law and now maybe, just maybe will be dancing in the endzone in Foxborough, in a Patriot uniform. It seems strange [...]

According to ESPNās Adam Schefter (via ProFootballTalk.com), after working out free agent wide receiver Plaxico Burress on Sunday, the New England Patriots arenāt expected to sign him.
Itās not a good sign when the Patriots turn down an aging veteran.Ā This could be a sign that Burress future in the NFL is in doubt at this point.
The Patriots are sure entertaining a lot of options at wide receiver. Aside from the sure-thing options such as Wes Welker, Deion Branch and Brandon Lloyd, the Pats have also have brought in Donte Stallworth and Jabar Gaffney to camp to try out for the team, as well. So, while it seems that New England already has enough options on the end of Tom Brady passes to put together a unit...
