Just about a month after allegedly headbutting his future ex-wife, Evelyn Lozada, Chad Johnson has now been formally charged with misdemeanor battery, the Associated Press reports.
If convicted, the unemployed receiver faces up to a year in jail.
On August 11, Johnson was involved in a domestic dispute with Lozada, reportedly stemming from a fight over a condom receipt. The incident has since cost him his job and at least one major endorsement deal.
The 34-year-old Johnson will be arraigned and file a written plea of not guilty on Thursday, and the case is expected to eventually go to trial.
Despite a few well-placed cameos on “Hard Knocks,” attempting to show he’s still in shape and capable of playing, Johnson has yet to draw even a whiff of interest on the open market.
The man once known as Ochocinco has went from the penthouse to the outhouse. Now he’s just trying to avoid the big house.
