Chad Johnson is a free man.
The Associated Press reports that Johnson was released from jail Monday after apologizing to Broward County Circuit Judge Kathleen McHugh for his behavior last week, when he playfully slapped his lawyer on the butt during a probation hearing.
"I just wanted to apologize for disrespecting the court last time," said Johnson, wearing a tan jail jumpsuit with his hands shackled at the waist. "I apologize. I did have time to reflect on the mistakes I made in this courtroom."
McHugh, who called his actions an "arrogant disregard for a court order," accepted Johnson's apology, slashing his 30 day jail term to just seven.
Now that he's out of the clinker, the 35-year-old may opt to focus on continuing his football career. Between his age and ever-growing baggage, however, teams won't exactly be lining up for his services. Perhaps more time with Porkchop is in order.
