Good luck to Ted Thompson as he whittles down the current Packers roster to 53 players.
We seem to say the same thing every year about the Green Bay Packers’ training camp roster: it’s going to be hard to make some of these cuts. There’s just so much talent across the positions, how do you decide who to keep? After looking at what Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy have done in the past, it’s becoming (slightly) easier to predict what they’re going to do in the future.
Before getting to the roster, here are the three big ideas I settled on in cutting down the roster:
The Packers are going to keep five wide receivers. There are needs elsewhere, and none of the other receivers have really proven themselves to be worthy of an extra slot just for them.
The defensive positions are deeper. Especially for the sake of special teams, I believe the Packers will skew their average numbers towards the defense this year.
Some players are going to be stashed on the PUP/IR lists for next year. There’...

The Turk visited the Green Bay Packers today
4PM EST today is the deadline for the Green Bay Packers to pare their roster down to 75 players. Here are the cuts and/or roster moves as we hear them:
Jarius Wynn – Reported by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. This isn’t the first time Wynn has been cut by the Packers. Wynn was a sixth round pick for the Packers in 2009 and surprisingly...
Packers LB Jamari Lattimore is rising.
It’s time to bring back the Packers stock report.
I’m back in my blogging chair after spending three booze-fueled days and nights in Madison, Wis. I gained about 10 pounds and reduced the functionality of my liver by about 7 percent. A typical weekend in Madison.
The only way to get my body back to where it was pre-Madison is to type a couple...
GREEN BAY PRANKSTERS
While being interviewed in the Packers locker room, Aaron Rodgers gets a shaving pie in the face courtesy of fullback John Kuhn. Rodgers looked none too pleased and ended the interview to go clean up. Here it is: Video: Rodgers gets pie in the face

GREEN BAY, Wis. Packers cornerback Davon House wants to play in Week 1 of the regular season. But after dislocating his left shoulder in the first game of the preseason on Aug. 9 and being out ever since, House will not be at full strength this year -- no matter when he can make it back to the field.
"I'm going to have to wear that (harness) the whole year," House...
The Green Bay Packers have placed linebacker Desmond Bishop on injured reserve, ending his season.
Bishop tore his right hamstring in the team's first preseason game at San Diego. Packers coach Mike McCarthy said at the time that Bishop's season was in jeopardy. He had to have surgery, so Monday's move was widely expected.
The Packers also placed running back Du'...
Aaron Rodgers certainly wasn't doing a celebration after this interview. While taking questions from the media, there wasn't just microphones in his face. Packers' Fullback John Kuhn weaved through the reporters like they were the defensive line and managed to give Rodgers a face full of shaving cream (he was probably due for a shave anyways).I wonder if Rodgers will...

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It sounds like Cedric Benson is about to officially be named the Packers' starting running back for this season.
Benson's biggest competition for that spot during Green Bay's recent training camp practices has been second-year running back Alex Green. However, with Green still somewhat limited 10 months after tearing his ACL, Benson will likely get...
Second-year offensive tackle Derek Sherrod is still on the active roster
The Packers have yet to place Derek Sherrod on the physically unable on perform list, and while it could still happen by the end of the week, it’s beginning to look as if the second-year tackle will start the season on the 53-man roster. And he should. Having the former Mississippi State star available to...
It sounds like Cedric Benson is about to officially be named the Packers' starting running back for this season, according to Paul Imig of Fox Sports Wisconsin.

For now, it doesnt appear surgery will be necessary for Davon House to get back on the football field.
Following Sundays practice, the Green Bay Packers second-year cornerback said the left shoulder subluxation he sustained in the teams first preseason game against San Diego on Aug. 9 shouldnt require surgery unless it happens to pop out again.
At that point, surgery...
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Nick Perry has a feeling that something special is about to happen in Green Bay this season. If Perry and fellow starting outside linebacker Clay Matthews, along with the rest of the defense, are able to perform all season the way they did in their third preseason game last week, the Packers' rookie could be onto something.Finishing with only 29 sacks last...
