Champ Bailey has had a hall of fame career, but he wants to finish it with a championship. The Denver Broncos came within range in 2012 with the top seed in the AFC, but a divisional loss to the eventual champions Baltimore Ravens ended their run. Bailey himself had a rough game against Ravens wideout Torrey Smith and wants redemption in the postseason. However, 2013 looks promising as the team added slot receiver Wes Welker, and plans to add a running back to solidify their backfield. Bailey feels this could be the year for the Broncos to break through and make it to the Super Bowl. He also talks about moving to safety and that he isn’t quite done playing cornerback. “I feel like we can be better this year,” Bailey said, via The Denver Post. “That’s what I’m looking forward to this year, and that’s a big difference from some other years. There have been years when I came back to get going and you didn’t feel that way about what we could do. What this team can do remains to be seen, that’s on us. But when you look at who’s here, starting with the quarterback we have, if we stay healthy, we need to be there in the end.” On moving to safety: “Hey, until these young guys start doing something, I’m not taking a back seat to them. Later on, maybe, but right now I still feel like I can play at the level I expect and the level they expect me to at corner. Besides, I’m not even close to 36.
