If you thought San Diego’s signing of the former Denver Broncos OC Mike McCoy was a solid deal last week, the experience got heftier. The Chargers strengthened their staff with another one this evening by adding the 62-year-young Fred Graves. The new receivers coach will hone the hands and sharpen the routes of the young and promising receiving corps that feature Eddie Royal, Robert Meachem, and Denario Alexander. Graves spent 36 years out of 37 specifically coaching wideouts – this should drastically improve their production. The Chargers also bolstered up their coaching staff with ex-Bills offensive linemen coach, Joe D’Alessandris. He has coached the offensive line for 34 of his total 36 established seasons. Last but not least, Mike McCoy hired Kevin Spencer, a special-teams expert who has a Super Bowl victory with the Steelers in 2005. The coordinator, who stood along the same sidelines with Coach Whisenhunt in Arizona, will reunite with him again in the west. This time in different colors, a new division, and a fresh start.
