Several corporate sponsors stepped up to help save the San Diego Chargers the embarrassment of having Thursday night's NFL Network game against the Kansas City Chiefs blacked out locally. The Chargers said the sponsors, including the local CBS affiliate, guaranteed the purchase of enough tickets to lift the local television blackout. Those tickets will be donated to local military bases and military hospitals. The team wouldn't say how many tickets had to be sold by the deadline of 5:20 p.m. Monday, but it was believed to be approximately 10,000. Source: NFL.com Attached Thumbnails

Chargers' Turner not focusing on job status

As the San Diego Chargers continue to flounder, head coach Norv Turner continued to fend off speculation that his job is on the line. The Chargers, who host the 1-6 Kansas City Chiefs at home Thursday, are coming off a 7-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns. San Diego (3-4) is in the midst of a three-game losing streak and hasn't scored a touchdown in six quarters. Those losses...

Chargers K Nate Kaeding To Be Released?

The nine-year era of Nate Kaeding is likely over in San Diego. The Chargers placed Kaeding on IR with the minor-injury designation and now that he's passed his physical the team is expected to waive him. If another team claims him, they would be responsible for his salary so he is likely to clear waivers and be released. If he's healthy, he can help a team down the stretch...

Four Teams that Should Trade for Dwayne Bowe

Nothing seems to be going right for the Kansas City Chiefs this year. Despite an offense that ranks 12th and a defense that ranks 18th in yards per game, the Chiefs are sitting in the cellar of the NFL with a 1-6 record. Their 23rd ranked passing offense is being carried by a rushing game that ranks 3rd. For the first time since 1940, the Chiefs have the dubious distinction of never...
