Nothing went right for the Kansas City Chiefs in their first two games while little could have gone better for the San Diego Chargers. Week 3 was a considerably different story. The Chiefs look to build off their stunning comeback victory Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium, where the Chargers are hoping to bounce back from an ugly no-show. San Diego's early season struggles were supposed to be a thing of the past after two strong victories to open the season. But after a lifeless 27-3 loss to Atlanta, the first-place Chargers (2-1) come to Kansas City with as many question marks as the Chiefs (1-2) had before pulling out a stunning, come-from-behind win to beat New Orleans 27-24 in overtime. "You never want to play like we did (Sunday), but when you do, you definitely have to learn from it and get to the next game because there's no waiting around and feeling sorry for yourself," Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers said. "It's a new week, and we know how impor...

Ready or not, Chiefs' Lilja takes center stage

KANSAS CITY, Mo. The last time Chiefs guard Ryan Lilja had to play center in an NFL game before last Sunday was...well...never. In fact, Lilja, who now becomes the Chiefs' starting center because of Rodney Hudson's season-ending injury, can't remember playing the position in college or high school or even Pee Wee football, for that matter. OK, there was that one time...

Chiefs place C Hudson on IR, sign Hochstein

Center Rodney Hudson was placed on injured reserve by the Kansas City Chiefs with a right knee injury suffered in the second half against New Orleans on Sunday. Hudson walked off the field to the bench under his own power, but was then taken off the field on a cart. Offensive linemen Russ Hochstein and Bryan Mattison were signed. A veteran of 138 games, Hochstein has spent time...

Dwayne Bowe Limited by Injured Thigh Thursday

Chiefs wideout Dwayne Bowe was limited Thursday because of an injured thigh.Fantasy Spin:Bowe is the team's only top-tier receiver so if he can't go Sunday versus the Chargers, it would be a huge blow to quarterback Matt Cassel's fantasy value. We're not sure of the extent of Bowe's injury and the fact that he's being described as "limited" as opposed...

Chiefs put CB Jacques Reeves on IR

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Chiefs put cornerback Jacques Reeves on injured reserve Tuesday. The veteran defender has been dealing with a hamstring issue that kept him out of the Chiefs' 27-24 overtime victory at New Orleans on Sunday. Kansas City plays San Diego this Sunday. Reeves has started 34 of the 90 games he's played in the NFL, but he stepped away from the game for...

Philip Rivers: NFL Week 3 paper champion

Whenever there’s a conversation about the best quarterbacks in the NFL San Diego Chargers QB, Philip Rivers, is always thrown in the mix along with guys like Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and the Manning’s. The one thing Rivers does not possess that the others do is a championship, yet he’s often spoken about as if he’s won one. Philip Rivers is a great fantasy football...

Chargers prove 2-0 start littered with fraud

San Diego, CA. A 27-3 loss, and at home nonetheless. This is an outcome which would put quite a damper on a nice 2-0 start to the season for any NFL team. For the San Diego Chargers, it was a rude awakening that they may not be anywhere near as good as they or their fans had thought. After wins over Oakland and Tennessee, the Chargers were feeling very good, especially when...

Chiefs suddenly have new heading into week 4

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Chiefs were trailing New Orleans 24-6, well on their way to a third straight humiliating defeat. Then the defense stiffened, Jamaal Charles started to gouge the Saints for big yards and Kansas City suddenly has new life. The Chiefs (1-2) will try to build on the momentum generated by the 27-24 overtime thriller next Sunday when they face the San Diego Chargers...

Dwayne Bowe limited in practice with thigh injury

According to Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star, Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe was limited in Thursday practice because of a thigh injury.  Fellow wide receiver Steve Breaston has a sore knee and will try to practice. I’m sure Bowe and Breaston will be fine for Sunday’s game.  We’ll monitor them as we get closer to game day.

Chiefs linebacker Houston emerging as sack master

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By DAVE SKRETTA AP Sports Writer It wasn't until the middle of last season that Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel, the defensive coordinator at the time, finally saw the light come on for linebacker Justin Houston. The technique, the scheme, the speed of the game - it all clicked one night in Chicago. The third-round draft pick with the first-round talent finally...

NFL Week 3: Vanderjacked Kansas City Style

Week 3 is over and the only thing you hear about is the replacement refs but the only guys that really matter are the kickers! The “Mess in Miami” is something that was not Vanderjacked worthy. Dan Carpenter missed two field goals, including one in overtime. Carpenter was only 2-4 on the day and certainly must take the brunt of the boos on this one. Of course not much went right...
