Chargers cut veteran Luis Castillo

The San Diego Chargers released veteran DE Luis Castillo Thursday. The move had been discussed between Castillo and the team several times. Castillo, 28, who was drafted in the first round in 2005, is now considering catching on with another team. While not considered a lock to make the roster, he may still have some left in the tank to contribute elsewhere. He's currently still nursing recurring back issues and should be healthy soon, sources say. The Chargers have invested heavily on young talent over the last few years, bringing in Corey Liuget, Kendall Reyes and Vaughn Martin. Castillo recently signed a one-year, $1 million deal to stick with the team, but it obviously didn't pan out.
