Don't Boo The Birds:
Another trip to the West Coast, another disappointing loss. This time the Eagles played a much better team, but unfortnately the result was the same, a 31-23 loss to the San Diego Chargers that dropped their record on the year to 5-4. The only bright spot of the day was the fact that the Green Bay Packers upset the Cowboys 17-7, so Philadelphia didn't lose any ground in the NFC East.
Once again the reoccuring theme(nightmare) of being unable to convert on short yardage situations led to their downfall. In the first half they had a first and goal on the Chargers' one yard line and could not punch the ball into the end zone having to settle for a David Aker's field goal. Later in the half they were first and goal again at the nine yard line and once again only came away with three points. Against an offense as good as San Diego you cannot trade field goals for touchdowns and expect to come away with a win.
The Eagles definately generated enough offense in this game to win....
