San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews broke his left
clavicle during yesterday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers and will be out for
the remainder of the season, reports Michael Gehlken of the U-T San Diego.
Ryan Mathews broke his left clavicle. Broke right clavicle in preseason. Out for year.

Mathews rushed four times for 22 yards and caught three
passes for eight yards Sunday before sustaining his season-ending injury. He previously
broke his right clavicle on his first carry of the preseason.
It’s been another disappointing year for Mathews, who was
selected 12th overall in the 2010 draft by the Chargers. On the
season he amassed 707 yards and one touchdown on 187 carries to go with 39
receptions for 252 yards.
Running back Ronnie Brown is also dealing with injury at
this point, so Curtis Brinkley and Jackie Battle are likely to split a bulk of
the carries for the Chargers from here on out.
