The San Diego Chargers announced Friday that they are retaining defensive coordinator John Pagano and three other assistants as part of new head coach Mike McCoy's staff. Pagano, Don Johnson (defensive line), Joe Barry (linebackers) and Greg Williams (assistant linebackers) are returning. Pagano has been with the Chargers since 2002 and completed his first season as the team's defensive coordinator. "I want to thank the Spanos family, Coach McCoy and the entire organization for believing in me," Pagano said in a statement. "These are very exciting times for the Chargers and I look forward to keep building our defense to where we want it to be." Pagano is the longest-tenured coach on the staff, starting off as the team's quality control coach for the defense.
