On Monday, June 18th the Chargers Mini Camp began. With the Chargers having so many new additions and parts to this team, the time spent together as a team will be critical to the teams success. Especially for rookies of last year, who didn't get the chance to do OTA's or Mini Camp two-a-days because of the lockout.

Some key newcomers that are expected to be an instrumental starters include, Robert Meachem, Eddie Royal, Ronnie Brown, and Dante Rosario on offense. On defense, Melvin Ingram, Kendall Reyes, and Brandon Taylor are all new to the Chargers.

Mini Camps are essentially held to improve fundamentals for players and to learn any new changes in the plays.

"I think it's going great, there are a lot of new guys out here that are learning the plays for the first time in these mini camps and OTA's." Said Chargers new WR Eddie Royal. "Guys are really working hard and gelling together." He explained how helpful it was to get out on the field and make mistakes as they go so they can grow as a team and 'iron out the details'

Camaraderie is also key in mini camp's. For many of the new team mates, this is the first time they have spent extended amounts of time with their teammates. Mathews on the new faces in the back field, "We're a real tight group, the new guys(Brown, McClain) they're all young guys and we're out here making it happen." 'It's really fun."

The general attitude around the Mini Camp is that of a good one. New players are understanding the new playbooks and information. The topic among the veterans is the speed of how everything moves. How fast this particular Charger team plays.
