Chargers News: Bolts' DB Preparing for Huge 2023 Campaign Before New Contract
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers will look for a resurgence of a 2023 season. The team and organization will look to reach new heights this season that they have yet to reach. It'll be a tough hill to climb, but it makes it even sweeter when you have hungry players on your side. A ton of Chargers will look to have career years, whether it's because they want to achieve a Pro Bowl, an individual accolade, or get paid.

One of those players that falls under those categories is cornerback Michael Davis. Davis will go into his seventh season in the NFL, all with the Bolts, and it will be a contract year. He will seek a new deal next spring, and he's hoping it's a big one. That will all fall on his play this season, and he is determined to get the job done by trusting his hands more, which will result in more interceptions.

The 28-year-old appeared on the "Getcha Popcorn Ready" podcast with Terrell Owens and said he is ready to be more aggressive.

Davis sounds confident, he sounds ready, and we can't wait to see what he has in store for us. Davis is in the last year of his three-year, $25.2 million deal that he signed in the 2021 offseason. He will seek a deal much higher than that, and it will be warranted if he plays well.

In his seven-year career, he has 287 combo tackles, five tackles for loss, seven interceptions, and 59 passes deflected in 90 games. Davis' game will play a huge role in what the Chargers hope to accomplish this upcoming season.

The defense was a huge issue for the Bolts last season, but if they're able to fix it, plus Davis doing his thing in the secondary, they could be in a great position to win many games.

Davis seems ready, the Chargers seem ready, and we can't wait to see it all pan out.
