Chargers News: Ja'Sir Taylor has The Ultimate Confidence in DB Group
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers are stacked with talent. That's nothing they fall short of, and even though they have yet to reach their potential, this upcoming 2023 season will be as good as any to prove their worth.

Many of LA's position groups are loaded, like their wide receivers, defensive line, offensive line, linebacker, safety, and of course, their quarterback and running back.

One position group they will try and make noise in is the cornerback position. Their young cornerback Ja'Sir Taylor already put them on notice when he spoke with content assistant Omar Navarro.

Taylor told Navarro that the Chargers' cornerbacks will be the best this season.

"Cornerback group, we're going to be the best. We got the tools to be the best and once we put it all together, I feel like we'll be the best DB group out there."

That is a lot to put on a defense that was subpar the season prior. According to PFF, the highest-ranked Charger defensive back in the 2022 season was Michael Davis, as he ranked number 19 with a grade of 74.3. Asante Samuel Jr. was a couple of spots behind him at 22 with a grade of 72.6.

There were a ton of hardships that LA dealt with, including injuries that caused young guys like Taylor to play a more significant role than what was expected.

Hopefully, last season was an anomaly considering many of LA's best players played hobbled or missed a majority of the season. 2023 cannot be like that; the team and coaching staff can't afford it. Nonetheless, there is nothing but positive vibes, and Taylor doubled down on what his group and the whole defense can look like this season.

"The best. We're flying around, we got edge guys, D-Line, linebackers, corners, safeties. And we all for the most part been together, know how to play with each other, we communicate well, we trust each other. I'm excited for the defense this year."

The pressure is on. We'll see how Taylor and his fellow teammates respond.
