Antonio Gates caught a 14-yard yard scoring pass from Philip Rivers on the game's opening drive to snap a streak of six straight quarters without a touchdown and the San Diego Chargers went on to a 31-13 victory over the staggering Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night.
The Chiefs, who lost their fifth straight, committed four more turnovers to run their NFL-high mark to a staggering 29, which have led to 104 points.
Snapping a three-game losing streak might take some heat off coach Norv Turner, who's been heavily criticized by fans after the Chargers (4-4) blew double-digit, second-half leads in losses to New Orleans and Denver, and then lost 7-6 at Cleveland on Sunday.
The heat will surely intensify on coach Romeo Crennel of the Chiefs (1-7). Source: Associated Press Attached Thumbnails

Why A.J. Smith is the worst GM in football and should be fired
For years, many fans have nicked named General Manager A.J. Smith ‘The Lord of No Rings’ and feel that he is the worst general manager in the NFL. The picture to the right is New York Giants Quarterback Eli Manning, who was drafted first overall by the San Diego Chargers in the 2004 NFL Draft. The New York Giants had the fourth overall pick and selected quarterback Phillip Rivers...
Rivers On Target with Two TDs vs. Chiefs
Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers was nearly perfect Thursday versus Kansas City, completing 18-of-20 for 220 yards with two touchdowns and a pick.Fantasy Spin:Rivers threw four interceptions and lost two fumbles two weeks ago against the Broncos and threw just 154 yards on 18-of-34 passing in slippery conditions Sunday against the Browns but he returned to form Thursday against...
Week 9 Picks: Thursday Night Edition
Rivers has led a disappointing offense and it starts with him.
Kansas City Chiefs (1-6) @ San Diego Chargers (3-4)
Historically, the Chiefs and Chargers have been rivals since 1960. The their series is knotted at 52-52-1. Why does this matter? Well, it doesn't matter at all, but it shows how equal these teams have been throughout the years. The Chiefs and Chargers are...
Chiefs-Chargers Live Blog, First Half
It took me a while to pin down who Philip Rivers resembles with his new mustache, but someone on Twitter pointed the Rod Farva connection out to Ufford and the matter was immediately settled.
FARVALARD!
Also, Ufford had Photoshopping fun with King Staschyface over at SB Nation if you want to check that out. In all honesty, it’s best to keep all discussion of this game to making...
Video: Omar’s (@LOWN5TAR) Week 9 NFL Picks
Tweet Week 9 got underway on Thursday as Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers probably kept Norv Turner employed another week with a 31-13 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs . To get you ready for the rest of this week’s action our Omar Mills delivers his picks and analysis as only he [...]
With Leather’s Watch This: An AFC West Snore
Yesterday, in perhaps his most prolific artistic contribution to society, our forefather Matt Ufford introduced us to Philip Rivers with a mustache, and it might be the only thing on this planet that makes King Laserface even remotely endearing at this point. Seriously, I just dropped his ass in a fantasy league for a bye week tight end. I’ve been starting Carson Palmer over him...
Down the Seam: Top 5 Fantasy TE’s for week 9
Had a pretty good run in week eight’s top Fantasy Football Tight Ends, minus the fact that the Patriots held out Aaron Hernandez for the week. This week he’s on a bye and I can’t get drawn into the Belichick trap! Here’s a list of the top 5 Fantasy Tight Ends for week nine.

5 Really Disappointing NFL Teams
Chargers (4-4):
After a promising start in 2012 the Chargers have regressed into the mediocrity that plagued them exactly a year ago. Not only does the offense look lost, QB Philip Rivers (10 TD, 9 INT, 6 FUM) a veteran leader, looks very confused as his wobbly balls down field time and time again fail to hit their spots. With no solidified star at running back and a defense...
The Best Moments From Chiefs-Chargers
In case you weren’t masochistic enough to tune in for a weeknight game between two doomed head coaches, bad news: neither of them were summarily fired. Also, the game was kinda watchable for only a half and even that’s being generous. A stupid Philip Rivers interception let the Chiefs hang around longer than they had any right to, but Kansas City is full of polite Midwestern...
The More That You Give, The More It Will Take
To the thin line beyond which you really can't fake.
I know I used the "Fire On The Mountain" reference last week, but the Bolts are even more disappointing right now. The Hurricane kept me from going to Cleveland. Even before kickoff, this proved to be the right decision. LaGuardia was closed on Sunday night and just opened up. I would have been stranded...
San Diego Chargers could still be out of the playoffs
Many people are calling last night's Chargers victory a job saver for head coach Norv Turner. If only it were that easy. Sure, the Chargers can still make the playoffs, but the road from this point on is much tougher.Currently, the Fighting Norvs are 4-4. Of course, we have to wait until after Sunday's games to truly get an idea of the playoff picture. The Broncos are 4-3...

SAN DIEGO -- After struggling for three quarters, the San Diego Chargers quickly turned boos into cheers and coasted in a rout of the Kansas City Chiefs.
